Why Acrylic Tip Nano Links Are Something to Get Excited About

The best of the best in the nano tip universe? Acrylic tipped nano rings. They are far more comfortable, durable, and flexible than their metal counterparts.

While there are several companies in Canada that offer traditional metal nano links, Crown Connections is proud to be the first company in the country to offer acrylic tip nano links! We want you to be as excited about these extensions as we are so we've listed our favorite reasons to go acrylic below!

  • They are simply safer. When an extension is reaching the end of its lifespan it eventually falls off the bond, leaving a metal hook in your hair. We probably don't have to list off the reasons why this ain't so appealing. Your hair can easily get tangled around this invasive hook, causing breakage and damage. You definitely don't want to risk a cut when you run your fingers through your hair. Poking people with your metal hooks when they go in for a hug? You don't want to be that girl.

  • In this day and age, we all want flexibility in both our lives and our beauty routines. Acrylic tips offer this elusive, and desirable, flexibility and make your hair care routine a breeze. With acrylic nano tips we can install the extensions closer to the scalp without any of the uncomfortable tightness factor. This allows you to go longer between maintenance appointments and provides seductive volume at your roots. Flexible tips are ultra comfortable and won't cause discomfort when you sleep or style your hair.

Consider this example. Suzy and Sally go on a romantic double date with their new beaus. It's a windy evening and their hair swiftly gets swept up in the tempest. Suzy has bulky metal nanos and they weigh her hair down, creating a bizarre tornado of partially uplifted strands paired with hair that just won't budge. Sally has acrylic links and her hair naturally and beautifully dances in the evening breeze. We want you to be like Sally.

  • Acrylic rings are a wonderful alternative for women who are allergic to metals. This is super exciting news for women who've kept a distance from extensions because of a metal allergy. Talk about beauty for all!

  • Let's get this one out in the open. Acrylic tips are perfect for gals who like to break the rules and bleach their hair. Bleach and metal don't play well together and the negative reaction can wreak havoc on your hair. While we still caution against bleaching your extensions because of the metal bead within the acrylic extensions we have observed that our clients experience much less damage with our acrylic extensions. I mean, if you're going to bleach it anyways, we might as well give you all the facts! Simply put: less metal = less damage where bleaching is involved.

Micro Rings, Nano Rings, What's the Difference?

The difference is simply a matter of size. The fitting methods and techniques are the same but the nano ring is significantly smaller than a micro ring! Nano rings can only be used with nano tipped hair extensions while micro rings can only be used on stick tip hair extensions.

But How do They Work?

Nano tip hair extensions are threaded through a nano ring which is firmly secured onto your natural hair with a small plier. The application process requires nano tip extensions, nano rings, a pulling needle, a comb, and pliers. When applied next to the scalp you can get the most voluminous results possible. This also allows your hair extensions to mimic the movement of your natural hair as organically as possible!

Nano rings don’t require adhesives, keratin bonding, or glues. The tiny seed bead that connects the extension to the hair is lightweight and won’t compromise your hair or weaken your hair follicles.

Do I Really Need a Professional?

You absolutely need a professional to apply your nano tip hair extensions. Don't just let any hair enthusiast convince you that they're the right specialist for the job. You need to ensure that you are getting your hair extensions applied by a qualified hair extensions specialist. Qualified and experienced specialists have the expertise to assess your hair and troubleshoot as necessary. They can provide invaluable advice and insight.

Nano tip hair extensions are a breeze to remove, but only by an insured specialist. If at all possible we recommend having them removed by the specialist who originally fitted them. All that is needed is a plier to squeeze the ring open to loosen the extension and set it free. Want to skip the salon and ask your neighbors to remove them for you? Think twice! This nearly always leads to some kind of disaster and let's face it, your hair is far too precious for inexperienced hands!

What do They Feel Like?

You want to be beautiful but you also want to be comfortable. We can relate! If you want the best of both worlds than you're in the right place. Acrylic nano tip hair extensions are super wearable and flexible and they won't weigh your hair down. If you are sensitive, it is always a good idea to speak with your practitioner so you can both work together to create your perfect look.

I can't stress this enough: it takes a few days to adjust to your new extensions. This is completely normal, whether you have had extensions before or are a total newcomer. If they are still uncomfortable after a week come in to see your specialist so they can take the appropriate action, such as loosening or adjusting them. Discomfort on day one is normal - discomfort on day seven is not.

In most cases, however, the discomfort subsides quickly and you'll forget that you’re wearing extensions at all!

Are They Visible?

When fitted properly nano tip hair extensions should not be visible. The best part of nano tips is that they are easy to remove and relocate so your hair stylist can test the best placement for the extensions. This simply isn't possible with fusion or tape-in extensions! This will allow you to get the most natural look possible. No Britney Spears, circa 2000, exposed extensions here!

Depending upon a number of factors including the length, density, texture, color, and thickness of your hair we recommend coming in for maintenance appointments every 4 to 12 weeks. Most of our client's come every 8 to 10 weeks! Maintenance includes a full removal row by row, a brush out and re-sectioning and re-installation with fresh beads. We want it to feel like the first time every time! If your extensions become visible than we encourage you to come in right away rather than waiting for your scheduled appointment.
